Library Standards:

This is the email from the state library.  These standards are ones I do not feel a library of our size could accomplish.  We have moved up quite a bit in the last few years from Developing to Excelling.  The next level is future focused and the libraries meeting that standard are Dickinson, Bismarck, Mandan and Grand Forks.   So I think we are doing quite well.

Hello!

I am pleased to announce that you reached the Excelling Level this year. Congratulations on your hard work in 2025! We appreciate the work that you are doing in your communities. You were only four standards away from the next level. As the 2026 reporting year continues marching along, here are the standards that you can work on:

F2: Library is open a minimum of 4 hours on the weekend.

F6: Library Board of Trustees meets monthly.

F15: Library board and director conduct a space needs assessment every 3–5 years and make a report of findings to primary funding entity.

F17: Library’s annual budget allocates funds for public relations activities, such as promoting social media posts, promotional videos, etc.

We evaluate libraries on the Standards for Public Libraries annually based on responses on the Public Libraries Survey. If you have questions about the Standards for Public Libraries, please contact me.

We also received State Aid this year text of the email below.

We are pleased to inform you that State Aid payments were issued June 4, 2026 according to N.D.C.C. § 54-24.2.

ADAMS COUNTY LIBRARY received $6801.95 paid via check #55365246 to Adams County.

If you have not received your payment by June 20, please reach out to ndsl-fiscal@nd.gov.

Lastly Summer Reading is humming along, some days we have very few kids due to conflicts with t-ball etc.  We have been slow as far as adult use.

New staff is working out quite well, I am hoping to keep Ashlyn Friebel at least a few hours per week during the school year.

Let me know dates you are available in July or early August for an in-person meeting.  Thanks LaNae
