SUMMER READING

Summer Reading 2022 at the Adams County Library

The Summer Reading program at the Adams County Library will begin June 6, 2022 and run until July 28, 2022.  There will be a week off around the Fourth of July.  The theme for this years’  program is Oceans of Possibilities.  We will once again use either paper logs or the Beanstack program to track reading progress.

The library is trying something new this year in an effort to meet the needs of rural children.  On Mondays we will have Brown Bags and Books at 11:45 – 1:00.  Children can come right after ball practice and listen to a story and then do a correlating activity.  We have a special story time Mondays from 3:30 until 4:00 for ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers.  And finally on Monday we conclude the day with Farmers Union EPIC activities for ages 6 and up.  This is the only  programming you need to preregister for so we can get the correct amount of supplies.  Contact the library to register.  (567-2741 or e-mail aclrequest@gmail.com)

Tuesday and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00 we will have the traditional Summer Reading Activities for ages 5 and Up.

Finally, Wednesday the library will have evenings of board games, trivia, and special events.

Even if you do not have a chance to come for any of these programs it is important to remember to keep kids reading over the summer.

We will be using either Beanstack or paper logs to track reading this summer. Paper log sheets will be available at the library.
To set up a Beanstack account go to : library.nd.gov select Online Library Resources.
Select Beanstack.
Then either sign in, recover your account, or create a new account.
Parents or children can then use this app to track reading. There are many different activities you can use beanstack for, book reviews, keeping track of the titles you have read, for children they can keep track of minutes read earn badges etc.

PLEASE e-mail the library or call 567-2741 so we are able to get incentives to our readers.

RECREATION LIBRARY

Thanks to generous support from the Dakota Buttes Visitor Council, The West River Health Services Foundation, and the Hettinger Jaycees, the Adams County Library in partnership with Hettinger Chamber of Commerce has begun a “Recreation Library.” Currently the library has adjustable youth ice skates, an assortment of snow shoes, sleds and frisbee golf sets, bocce, ladder ball, stacking blocks, and tennis rackets to check out. Adult patrons need to come in and fill out an agreement/waiver before they or their minor children are allowed to check out equipment. Equipment can be checked out for one week.
